HOW TO CARE

Caring for Your Zaffiro Wool Products

Wool is a naturally durable and resilient fibre, but with proper care, your Zaffiro wool clothing and pram accessories will stay soft, beautiful, and functional for years. Follow our simple care instructions to keep your wool products looking their best.

General Wool Care Tips

  • Spot Cleaning: Wool has natural stain-resistant properties, so in most cases, spot cleaning is all you’ll need. Gently dab the affected area with a damp cloth, using mild soap or wool-friendly detergent. Avoid rubbing, which can damage the fibers.
  • Airing Out: Wool is naturally breathable and self-cleaning. If your wool item isn’t dirty but could use refreshing, simply air it out. Hang it in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight to allow the fibres to release any trapped moisture or odors.
  • Gentle Brushing: If your wool pram accessories or clothing start to look a bit worn, a soft garment brush can help revive the fibres and maintain the texture. Brush gently in the direction of the fibres to keep them smooth.

Washing Instructions

  • Hand Wash or Gentle Machine Cycle: Wool items are best hand-washed in cool or lukewarm water. If you prefer machine washing, use a wool-specific detergent and set the machine to wool cycle at a lowest possible temperature
  • Avoid Agitation: Too much friction can cause wool to felt or shrink. Whether washing by hand or in the machine, always handle the fabric gently, and avoid twisting or wringing it out.
  • Drying: After washing, reshape your wool items while they’re still damp and lay them flat to dry on a towel. Avoid hanging wet wool, as it can stretch the fabric. Never use a tumble dryer, as heat can cause the fibres to shrink.

Storing Wool

  • Proper Storage: When storing wool clothing or pram accessories for a longer period, make sure they are clean and dry. Store them folded in a cool, dry place, preferably in a breathable cotton or linen bag to allow air circulation. This prevents moths and moisture buildup.
  • Avoid Hanging: Wool’s natural elasticity can cause garments to stretch if hung for long periods. For pram accessories and clothing, folding them is always the best option.

Pilling Prevention

Pilling can occur on wool over time, especially in high-friction areas. This is a natural process where small balls of fibre form on the surface of the fabric. You can gently remove pills using a wool comb or fabric shaver. Avoid pulling them by hand, as this may damage the fibres.

Lanolin Treatment for Wool Lined Pram Accessories

By following these care guidelines, your Zaffiro wool products will continue to provide warmth, comfort, and protection for your little one, while maintaining their luxurious look and feel. Wool is a natural fibre that only gets better with time, and with the right care, it will be part of your family’s journey for years to come.
